OCZ’s Vertex SSDs : Larger Capacity Larger Cache

As the future storage of data many companies are investing huge amount to produce SSD (Solid State Drive).Although SSDs ate not quite for the average computer users because of the high price of SSDs. But in the enterprise world performance comes first rather than price. SSD manufacturing companies are trying to come in to the retail market with lower priced SSDs. OCZ Technology Group has introduced a high-performing solid-state drive for computer enthusiasts looking for a faster, lower-power alternative to hard disk drives called the Vertex Series. The line is built using MLC NAND and is aimed directly at the consumer market.

The Vertex is a 2.5-inch drive that’s compatible with a SATA-II interface which is suitable for notebook. OCZ SSDs can withstand up to 1500G and supports RAID. Vertex drives in 30GB and 60GB capacities have a 32MB cache while the 120GB and 250GB drives have 64MB of cache. The larger 64MB cache is helpful during write operation. Vertex line doesn’t use the JMicron controller.

OCZ’s Vertex drives have a 1.5 million-hour mean time before failure. Power consumption is 2 watts in operation, and half a watt in standby mode and the drives weigh 2.7 ounces and cpmes with a two-year warranty.

Although the price varies day by day, initial price can be mentioned. Nice illustration.
